Overnight the US markets have rallied higher after a lift in US$ oil prices and strong housing data. The US markets lifted pushing aside the falls in Asia where the Shanghai tumbled 6.4% to its lowest close since December 2014.

US sharemarkets rose in line with European markets in response to higher oil prices and the potential for more monetary stimulus. After being up by 272 points at one stage, the Dow Jones finished higher by 116 points or 0.7%. The S&P 500 rose by 0.5% while the Nasdaq lifted less than 1 point or less than 0.1%

Global equities markets have bounced higher with oil prices up 6% after the European Central Bank suggested scope for more stimulus. Bonds and gold lost favour to equities and the Aussie dollar gained against the US dollar.
