Blackmores (BKL) posted a slightly better than forecast 159.5% lift in profit to $48.3 million for the six months ended December 2015. The result was driven by its core Australian operations and demand from China.

US sharemarkets recovered from early losses on Wednesday, helped by the late afternoon lift in oil prices. Six of the major 10 S&P sectors were higher. The S&P financial sector was amongst the weakest performing sectors, down 0.2% after earlier being down almost 1%. Wells Fargo lost 1.2%. At the close of trade the Dow Jones was up by 53 points or 0.3%, the S&P 500 index lifted by 0.4%, while the Nasdaq gained 39 points or 0.9%.
