Australia’s busiest airport, Sydney Airport (SYD) has reported a 5.6% jump in revenue and a solid lift in profit for the 2015 full year.

Oil and gas producer and retailer, Origin Energy (ORG) reported a half year loss of $254 million compared to a loss of $25 million.

Telstra (TLS) posted a modest 0.4% rise in its profit to $2,093 million for the six months ending 31 December 2015.

US sharemarkets rose again on Wednesday with higher oil prices boosting stocks in the energy sector. The S&P Energy sector rose by 2.9%. Shares in Fossil and Priceline posted solid gains after earnings beat forecasts. At the close of trade the Dow Jones index was up by 257 points or 1.6% with the S&P 500 index up by 1.7% and the Nasdaq was higher by 98 points or 2.2%.

US sharemarkets rose again on Wednesday with higher oil prices boosting stocks in the energy sector. The S&P Energy sector rose by 3.2%. Shares in Fossil and Priceline posted solid gains after earnings beat forecasts. With an hour of trade to go, the Dow Jones index was up by almost 250 points or 1.5% with the S&P 500 index up by 1.6% and the Nasdaq was higher by 90 points or 2.0%.

Minutes of the last Federal Reserve meeting revealed that policymakers discussed "altering their earlier views of the appropriate path for the target range for the federal funds rate". The minutes also noted "If the recent tightening of global financial conditions was sustained, it could be a factor amplifying downside risks to the economy."

Woodside Petroleum’s (WPL) performance was defined by falling oil prices in 2015 which saw the group report a 99% fall in full year net profit to $US26 million.

The ASX 200 retreated today, after gaining for the past two sessions. The ASX 200 slipped 27 points or 0.6%, held down by heavy falls in the Energy, Materials and Healthcare sectors.
