US sharemarkets were mixed on Tuesday as investors awaited earnings results from Apple as well as the Federal Reserve rates decision. Shares in Exxon Mobil rose by 0.3% despite Standard and Poor's cutting the company's debt rating from AAA to AA+. The Dow Jones ended higher by 13 points or 0.1% after trading in a 109 point range. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.2% but the Nasdaq lost 7.5 points or 0.2%.

US sharemarkets eased on Monday as investors positioned ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting. Weaker oil prices also weighed on energy stocks. Home builders weakened in response to lower new home sales. The Dow Jones ended lower by 26.5 points or 0.2% after trading in a 135 point range. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.2% while the Nasdaq lost over 10 points or 0.2%
