US sharemarkets were mixed on Thursday. Gains in telcos and consumer staples outweighing a slide in Apple, which hit an intra-day two-year low. Apple closed down 2.4% on worries about the demand for new iPhones. Seven of the 10 major S&P sectors were higher. The Dow Jones rose by 9 points or 0.1% with the S&P 500 index flat while the Nasdaq fell by 0.5%.
