US sharemarkets rallied into its second day on Wednesday as investors continued searching for cheaply valued assets. All 10 major S&P sectors were higher, with the energy sector lifting 2.4%, supported by higher oil prices. The Dow Jones index rose by almost 285 points or 1.6%

US sharemarkets recouped some of the recent losses on Tuesday, as investors went searching for cheaply valued assets. The rally was supported by expectations of further central bank stimulus. Nine of the 10 S&P sectors were higher, with the S&P energy sector leading the gains, up 2.6%. The Dow Jones index rose by almost 270 points or 1.6%. The S&P 500 index rose 1.8% while the Nasdaq gained 97 points or 2.1%.

US sharemarkets fell sharply on Monday as investors continued the recent shift to safe-haven assets. Technology, material (-3.4%), energy (-2.8%) and financial stocks (-2.8%). Utilities (+1.3%) and telecom (+0.6%) were the only S&P 500 sector that managed to stay in positive territory. The Dow Jones index fell by almost 261 points or 1.5%. The S&P 500 index lost 1.8% while the Nasdaq fell 114 points or 2.4%.
