Market Close 23 Jul 21: Market ends at record closing high for a second day

Despite continued lockdowns and COVID-19’s spread, the Australian sharemarket rose for a third straight session and finished at a record closing high for a second day.

Mid-Session 23 Jul 2021: Aussie stocks bounce back from slow start

The Australian sharemarket is edging higher for a third day, with the ASX 200 up by ~0.1%. This keeps the index just points away from hitting an all-time high after finishing at a record closing high on Thursday.

Morning Report 23 Jul 21: US sharemarkets rose on Thursday

Investors weighed up mixed corporate earnings results and similarly mixed economic data. Lower bond yields served to push bank shares lower. But technology shares were favoured ahead of the release of earnings from 'mega tech' companies in the coming week. Shares in Microsoft rose by 1.7% and shares in Amazon rose by 1.5%. The Dow Jones rose by 25 points or 0.1%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.2%. And the Nasdaq gained 53 points or 0.4%.

Market Close 22 Jul 21: ASX 200 finishes at record closing high

The Australian sharemarket rose by 1.06%, lifting for a second day, making it the strongest advance in four weeks while also pushing the market into positive territory for the week so far.

Mid-Session 22 Jul 2021: Aussie shares higher for a second day

The Australian sharemarket is lifting for a second day, gaining 0.75% following similar improvements from US markets overnight. Mining stocks are driving the market higher.

Morning Report 22 Jul 21: US sharemarkets rose on Wednesday

Energy rose 3.5% with airlines up 3.3% and the Hotels, restaurants and leisure index rose 2.9%. Shares in United Airlines rose by 3.8% in response to a lift in travel demand. Shares in Chipotle rose 11.5% and shares in Coca Cola rose 1.3% on earnings news. But shares in Netflix fell 3.3% after reporting a slowdown in subscriber growth. The Dow Jones rose by 286 points or 0.8%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.8%. And the Nasdaq gained 133 points or 0.9%.

Market Close 21 Jul 21: Aussie market snaps 2-day losing run

The Aussie market has snapped its 2-day losing run and recouping roughly half of the losses over the past two sessions. The ASX 200 managed to climb 56.5pts or 0.78% to 7,308 as banking, mining & healthcare stocks added most to the benchmark index.

Mid-Session 21 Jul 2021: ASX bounces back recouping weekly losses so far

The Aussie market has followed a sharp rebound on Wall Street to lift 1.3% around midday. Gains have been broad with mining, energy & financials among the most improved.
