The Aussie market has extended its winning run to a third consecutive day. The ASX 200 added 53pts or 0.8% and closed above 6,800 for the first time since 25 February 2020. Buy-now pay-later stocks were a standout with ZipCo (Z1P) urging 23%.

Local shares are firming for a third day in a row. The ASX 200 is 43 points or 0.6% higher at 6,813. The index has broken above the 6,800 point mark for the first time since late February 2020. The improvements on the ASX 200 have been rather broad based with nearly all sectors higher. Technology stocks are outperforming with financials, consumer discretionary and staples also among the big improvers. Industrials are falling most.

US sharemarkets hit all-time highs on Wednesday as strong corporate earnings and hopes for another stimulus package boosted sentiment .At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index rose by 258 points or 0.8%. The S&P 500 index was up 1.4% and the Nasdaq index rose by 260 points or 2.0% - all closing at record highs.

Gains for technology and mining stocks have contributed most to another day of gains on the Aussie market. The ASX 200 rose 28 points or 0.4%. While most sectors of the market rose, financials ended in the red.

The Aussie market is again pushing higher at lunch on Wednesday with the ASX 200 gaining a further 33 points or 0.5% to 6,775. The index also hit fresh 11 month highs earlier this morning and now trades a little less than 0.6% away from all-time highs hit in February 2020. Technology is the big winner in the first few hours of trade. Afterpay (APT) jumped to a new record high this morning of $142.30, while it has faded a touch from that high, it still remains 4.5% higher. Wisetech (WTC) is another big mover in the IT space with the logistics software firm advancing 5.8%.

US sharemarkets advanced on Tuesday as investors bet on additional fiscal stimulus after US Treasury Secretary nominee Janet Yellen said highlighted the need for more government support for the US economy. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index rose by 116 points or 0.4%. The S&P 500 index was up 0.8% and the Nasdaq index rose by 199 points or 1.5%.
