Regulation for the big US banks was rolled back. Shares of banks Wells Fargo (+4.8%), Goldman Sachs (+4.6%) and JPMorgan (+3.5%) advanced after regulators eased rules that will free up capital. But surging virus cases prompted Texan Governor Greg Abbott to pause the reopening of the state's economy. And Apple (+1.3%) announced that it will re-close 14 stores in Florida due to rising COVID-19 rates. Boeing shares fell by 1% as rival Airbus reached a crucial jetliner production target. The Dow Jones index gained 299 points or 1.2%. The S&P500 index rose by 1.1%. The Nasdaq index was higher by 107 points or 1.1%.
