US sharemarkets eased modestly on Friday. Weaker-than-expected economic growth data caused investors to book profits. The Dow Jones ended lower by 41 points or 0.2%. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.2% while the Nasdaq ended flat. For the week, the Dow rose 1.9%, the S&P lifted 1.5% and the Nasdaq rose 2.3%. During April, the Dow lifted 1.3%, the S&P rose 0.9% and the Nasdaq rose 2.3%.

The Reserve Bank hands down the ratesdecision at 2.30pm AEST on Tuesday.
If the Reserve Bank was looking to move rates in any direction it would certainly have the opportunity to do so on Tuesday given that it would be able to flesh out its reasoning in the Statement of Monetary Policy released on Friday. However it is a safe to assume that the cash rate is unlikely to move.

US sharemarkets held in tight ranges on Thursday. A raft of major companies such as Intel, Alphabet, Amazon and Microsoft report after the bell on Thursday. Economic data wasn't too far away from forecasts. After trading in a 70-point range, the Dow Jones ended higher.
