US sharemarkets fell on Thursday. Investors booked profits at the end of month and quarter, especially on high-flying technology stocks. Financials and energy stocks were amongst the best performers. The Federal Reserve approved plans by banks to lift dividends and share buybacks under the annual stress test program. The Dow Jones fell by 168 points after rising 144 points the previous day. At its lows the Dow Jones was down 257 points. The S&P 500 fell by 0.9% while the Nasdaq lost 90 points or 1.4%.
