US sharemarkets ended slightly lower as investors dissected profit results. Shares in General Electric lost 2.8% after reporting a 60% slide in profit. But shares in Honeywell rose 1% to a record high after it raised its profit forecast. The Dow Jones fell by 32 points or 0.2%. The S&P 500 fell by less than 0.1% and the Nasdaq fell by 2.2 points or less than 0.1%. Over the week the Dow fell by 0.3% but the S&P 500 rose by 0.5% and the Nasdaq rose by 1.2%.

The latest data confirms a multi-speed national economy. NSW is solidly on top, with little to separate Victoria and the ACT. Then there is a gap to Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia and Northern Territory. While WA remains in eighth place.

US sharemarkets ended mixed on Thursday. Shares in Sears rose 10.6% after it said it would sell its Kenmore home appliances on Amazon.com. But shares in Home Depot fell by 4.1%. The Dow Jones fell by 29 points or 0.1%. The S&P 500 fell by less than 0.1% but the Nasdaq rose by almost 5 points or 0.1%.
