Aussie shares have continued what has been a rather inconsistent week with the ASX 200 giving up nearly all of Wednesday’s gains. The benchmark index is little changed over the four sessions this week with investors still waiting on confirmation of US tariffs on over $150 billion in Chinese exports.

The US Federal Reserve left the federal funds rate at a range of 1.50-1.75% as expected* US sharemarkets were firmer on Wednesday. There were no surprises from the Federal Reserve decision. Investors awaited news on whether the US would go ahead with imposing tariffs on $160 billion on Chinese imports from December 15. Investors also awaited Thursday's UK election. The Aussie market is improving in the first few hours of trade on Wednesday with the ASX 200 lifting despite another weak lead from Wall St. Investors are still waiting on firm confirmation of US-China trade with the tariff deadline on the 15th. Most sectors are higher locally with on tech & property weaker.

US sharemarkets were mixed on Tuesday. Investors are watching the December 15 start date for the US to impose tariffs on $160 billion on Chinese imports. Investors also await US and European interest rate decisions and the December 12 UK election. With an hour of trade to go, the Dow Jones index was up by 12 points or less than 0.1%.
