The Aussie market is lower towards lunch on Thursday despite a solid lead from Wall St. The ASX 200 is 16 points or 0.25% softer at 6672 with banks the major decliners. ANZ Bank has been the major drag after releasing underwhelming FY19 earnings results. Dairy and infant formula makers are mixed with Bubs Australia (BUB) falling on a quarterly update while A2 Milk (A2M) and Bellamy’s (BAL) hold AGMs.

US sharemarkets rose on Wednesday as investors digested latest news. The Dow Jones rose by 115 points or 0.4%. The S&P500 index rose by 0.3% to record highs. The Nasdaq rose by 27 points or 0.3%.
The US Federal Reserve has cut the federal funds target from 1.75-2.00% to 1.50-1.75%. In determining future rate actions, the Fed said it "will assess realized and expected economic conditions relative to its maximum employment objective and its symmetric 2 percent inflation objective." * In US economic data, the ADP reported that private sector jobs rose by 125,000 in October (forecast 120,000). The economy grew at a 1.9% annual pace in the September quarter (forecast 1.6%) The core personal consumption deflator (inflation measure) grew at a 2.2% annual rate (forecast 2.1%). * European sharemarkets were mixed ahead of the US interest rate decision. Shares in cosmetics company, L'Oréal, rose 7.6% after the company beat quarterly revenue forecasts. Shares in Fiat Chrysler rose 9.5% after it confirmed it was in merger talks with French rival PSA (Peugeot). The pan-European STOXX600 rose by 0.1% with the German Dax down 0.2% and the UK FTSE was up by 0.3%. In London trade, shares of Rio Tinto fell by 2.2% with BHP down by 1.5%. * US sharemarkets rose on Wednesday as investors digested latest news. The Dow Jones rose by 115 points or 0.4%. The local sharemarket has suffered its worst daily decline in nearly a month with the ASX 200 sliding 56 points or 0.83%to 6689.5. Losses were broad based with every sector in negative territory. Heavyweights were a drag with major miners and banks all in the red. Woolworths (WOW) fell 1.4% despite strong quarterly sales as the supermarket giant admitted to underpaying roughly 5,700 staff.
